The Auburn Career Center Board of Education announced the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Brian Bontempo effective July 31, 2025. Bontempo will be stepping down to enjoy retirement.
“My experience as the Superintendent of the Auburn Career Center has been a highlight in my career. I have worked with outstanding board members, amazing teachers and staff, and an administrative team that is thoughtful, smart, and courageous. But most of all, my interactions with bright, young students have truly been the most rewarding,” said Bontempo.
Auburn’s Board of Education President, Roger Miller, expressed gratitude for Bontempo’s years of service. “On behalf of the Board of Education, we thank Dr. Bontempo for his leadership and dedication to our students and staff during his time with us. We appreciate his numerous contributions to our district and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
“This May will be my 9th graduation season at Auburn,” says Bontempo. “Those are some of my most memorable moments…as students cross the stage and shake my hand, I know they are prepared, with excellent skills, to enter the workforce, continue their education, or enter the military. They have options, it is the best thing we can do for our graduates, our community, Ohio, and America.”
During Bontempo’s tenure, the district has experienced remarkable growth, facility enhancements, academic excellence, and outstanding partnerships with our school districts and the business community. Superintendent Bontempo spearheaded a comprehensive rebranding initiative, reinforcing the district’s commitment to innovation and excellence. His leadership also led to numerous facility upgrades, including the Public Safety Training Facility and the current $4.2 million grant-funded health wing renovation, further enhancing educational opportunities for students.
District performance has flourished under Bontempo’s guidance, with Auburn earning a prestigious 5-star rating on the state report card for the past two consecutive years. Additionally, enrollment has consistently reached record highs, reflecting the district’s reputation for providing a top-tier educational experience.
"We have made significant progress in areas that matter most to our students, staff, and community, and I am extremely proud of the work we have accomplished together," said Bontempo. "While this decision was not an easy one, I am confident the district will continue to build on its successes moving forward.”
Miller echoed this sentiment, stating, “We are grateful for Superintendent Bontempo’s dedication and vision, which have positioned Auburn as a leader in career technical education. He sees the big picture regionally and brings people together to solve regional challenges. He is
consistently looking for ways to improve the people or the situation, challenging everyone to be better. His commitment to excellence has left a lasting impact on our students, staff, and community.”
As the district continues its forward momentum, the Board is committed to maintaining Auburn’s continued growth and excellence in education. To ensure a smooth transition, the Board has partnered with the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve (ESCWR) to lead a comprehensive, community-driven search for Auburn’s next Superintendent.
