Online EMS Refreshers- Auburn Career Center offers all three levels of EMS refreshers online in the virtual instructor lead training fashion (VILT). The program runs 4 times a year for three months each session. You can start anytime in each session and work at your own pace. The student must be finished with the online portion and the eight hour skill verification by the last day of the session. The eight hour skill verification will be at Auburn Career Center and offered on two dates during each session. The VILT refreshers are accepted by the state of Ohio, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, and is the transition course for the new NREMT guidelines.

This class starts each year in January, April, July, October, program is all online work at your own pace, with a live instructor to help you as needed. 

 

The Fire Inspector Program is an 80-hour program. This program prepares you for the challenging position of Fire Code enforcement and building code regulation. You must have a valid Ohio Fire card and be affiliated with an Ohio fire department to attend this class. Students do not have to purchase the codebook's if sponsoring department or student has current up to date Ohio Fire Code and Ohio Building Code books. The course is a mix of didactic and practical application.  

 

This course starts each year in April and September enrollment required in the prior month. It is considered part-time and has no federal financial aid funding options.

Ohio is not a Pro-Board state in regards to officer development, however this course follows all NFPA and Pro-Board requirements and has been used by students in other states to gain Pro-Board certification. This course is completely online and work at your own pace over a three-month period. You will have regular interaction with several live instructors throughout the course.

This Incident Safety Officer program is an Online Virtual Instructor Lead class covering 32 hours of course curriculum related to FEMA, NFPA 1521, and Fire Department Incident Safety Officer Texts. The course materials and leaning activities follow the NFPA JPR's for certification as an Incident Safety Officer.
 
To be eligible for this program you must have no less than 5 years active duty as a firefighter, have taken NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 as well as a Fire Officer 1 (NFPA 1021 standard) certification.
 
The course is given over a three-month period and you must complete each month's assignments with in the allotted time. 

This course is designed for fire officers at any level to advance their education and help to develop an atmosphere of safety at their department.

This comprehensive 100-hour Basic and Advanced Fire Investigation course provides aspiring and experienced investigators with a robust foundation in fire and arson investigation techniques. Aligned with the NFPA 1033 (2014 edition) and NFPA 921 (2021 edition) standards, this course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills necessary for successful fire investigation.

This program follows the current 60-hour Fire or EMS instructor course. The student must pass the NREMT exam or Firefighter Knowledge exam prior to the first day of class. Students will complete a 40-hour Cognitive Methods class, then they must pass the Cognitive Methods exam, after passing the exam students take the specific how to teach Fire or EMS Instructor Bridge course. Students who already have an EMS or Fire card may can take the bridge course to add that teaching discipline must pass knowledge exam prior to bridge course day). After the bridge course, day students must complete 10 hours of supervised teaching. All instructor students must have been certified for at least 5 years to be eligible for this certification.

Due to course requirements this course is maximum 8 students for each course offering.

This course starts February and September or each year. Enrollment and testing is required one week prior to the start of the class.

The course is offered once a year in the late summer early fall (see course schedule). You must be a fire instructor in good standing and have a letter of recommendation from your fire chief or program director.  The 24-hour program includes both classroom and hands on education of how to safely conduct live fire operations. After completing the 24-hour program, you must complete a minimum of one Live burn and work each of the JPR positions. It might take more than one Live burn to complete all rotations.

This course is offered once a year starting in October or November.
