Slavkovsky Appointed Assistant Superintendent of Auburn Career Center
CONCORD TWP, OH – Auburn Career Center’s Superintendent Dr. Brian Bontempo and the Board of Education are pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Slavkovsky as the new Assistant Superintendent of Auburn Career Center effective Aug. 1.
Slavkovsky has been with the district for eight years and has served as the principal since 2014. He also served as Auburn’s Assistant Principal for four years.
Slavkovsky has 19 years of education experience. Prior to his time at Auburn, Slavkovsky served students as a teacher, coach, and administrator at Villa Angela – St. Joseph High School. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis on sculpture, along with an Art Education Minor from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Ursuline College. Slavkovsky will complete his superintendent licensure cohort though Ursuline in December 2017.
Slavkovsky lives with his family in Painesville. He enjoys baseball, gardening, and time with family.
“I am excited to work with our new leadership team to progress and continue the growth of a great educational tradition at Auburn Career Center. It is an honor that the Board sees me fit to help guide us through this pivotal time in career technical education,” says Slavkovsky.
In addition to Slavkovsky, Dee Stark will also be assuming a new role at Auburn Career Center. Stark was named the principal at Auburn’s June board meeting. Stark has served as Auburn’s Assistant Principal since 2014. She has been with the district for 17 years with over 20 years of educational experience.
Stark spent 16 years teaching mathematics, 15 of which were at Auburn. She also served as the Director for Adolescent and Young Adult Education at Ursuline College while assisting in their accreditation process. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics with a certificate in Education, along with a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
Mrs. Stark lives with her family in Chardon. She enjoys biking, traveling and time with family.
During the June board meeting, Auburn’s Board also approved the hiring of Sarah Noble, Guidance Counselor, and Shelby Kaminski, VOSE Coordinator. Both positions were filled due to retirement.
“As a Superintendent, one of the most important tasks that I have in any given year is to make sure that we hire the right people for the right work,” said Dr. Bontempo. “Through a lengthy and thorough process, I am confident we made excellent choices. Next school year will prove to be very exciting. There will be new faces and different roles along with a high level of excitement and possibilities for the future.”
