Expertly designed and crafted by our Welding students and painted by Automotive Collision Repair program, this sign showcases the amazing talent of our students.
It is HUGE! 18.5 ft long
Letters are 4’ high (not including the base)
Over 10 students worked on this project and it took approximately 9 school months to complete
Approx. 8 weeks of finishing and painting work
Approximately 6,000 hours of labor
Approximately 2,000 lbs of sheet steel

Nathan Suszynski, of Chardon Local Schools, was one of the students who worked on the project. He stated it was challenging in many ways. When asked how it felt to be a part of this and knowing it will be enjoyed by many, he stated he felt proud.
“The wrapping of each letter was a huge challenge for the students to overcome, it is very tedious. People can’t believe this was done by high school students, from the design and craftsmanship to the finished product. They knocked it out of the park and it’s absolutely stunning,” said our welding instructor, Jared Rogge.
After the welding students were completed with their part, our Automotive Collision Repair (ACR) students handled the finishing touches and painted it.
Ace Locher, of Chardon Local Schools; Logan Crissey and Alexander Skory, both of
Riverside Local Schools, were the lead ACR students on this project.
“It was an honor to work on a project of this size and awesome to know it will be enjoyed for years to come by so many people. We’re proud to say we had a part in it.”
They stated it was amazing how much they learned and how their skills grew while working on this sign and how they kept raising their standards.
Justin Bruno, our ACR Instructor, said “It’s not every day you can get 17-18 year old kids to stay focused on a job this tedious with no instant gratification. It was week in and week out. I’m proud of these students and their dedication and maturity to see it through.”
This sign will be located at a Coulby Park for the community to enjoy.
